Straight from the heart!

As of last week, I finally put away the last of Christmas... Sad but true! But guess what? So did most of the people that I work with! We are all too busy.

I find myself longing for order and simplicity in my life. Old sappy movies, quiet time with nothing to do, a good full bodied cup of Folgers coffee, and a good magazine. Notice I didn't say book? I don't have the time to get that involved in a book....but there is a magazine that has caught my eye. "Real Simple" That's where I long to be. On the cover of the February 2002 issue, it has the words "life/home/body/soul" That is what we all long for isn't it? I long to be comforted, nurtured and pampered.

I have raised two children, now it's time to enjoy life with my husband and venture out on my own again. I want to de-clutter after 18 years of accumulating "junk", I want to eat chocolate, not care about the effects of time, wear baggy clothes and enjoy grandchildren and "laughlines" around my eyes. I want to think of youth again, angels and fairies, puppies and sunshine.

I'm sure you have the same longings in your heart. We are running faster and faster - it seems we look like hampsters on a wheel! Well I am calling for a halt to it! I am saying "let's all join together and make every effort to slow down." Let's make it our goal to join hands, call an old friend, hand write a note, or yes, even send a small gift.

As a crafter of gift baskets and wreaths, I want to assist you in the process of giving a gift, and help to make the selection process a little easier for you. I make sure that the gifts that leave my "little house" are gifts of nurturing and comfort for the body and soul. I want to help you to de-clutter your life, by taking the stress out of deciding what to give, and finding the time to give it. I want to fill the senses of your "special person" with the spirit of simplicity that will harmonize their hearts with peace, light up their eyes, tickle their tastebuds and bring back memories with soft scents of yesterday. It is my true desire to make your life a little less hectic.

Remember I said no time for a good book? Well there is one good book that I have found very helpful…

Women's trends in gift giving

Helpful gift ideas for women who crave the "simple life"…give a gift that hits the "woman in your life" where she lives right now - usually in a time crunch.

Excellent suggestions include: gift certificates for services that will make her life a little easier such as :house cleaning, child care, lunch out, breakfast on Saturday morning, a meal in a basket. Giver her a "red hat!" A red hat you say?

Well that’s a story all of it’s own…I was out "lunching" one day, when I saw a large group of women all in various styles of red hats, and purple dresses) I asked what the occasion was and it was the "Red Hat" club. the only pre- requisite was that you be 50 years of age , wear a red hat and come to have fun!!!) Give a gift of a red hat! In other words, give a lunch coupon for a home based young mother, or a baby sitting service.

Give a gift of pampering! Trends seem to be going with comfort and TLC for our stress filled lives. INDULGE the women in your life with luscious CHOCOLATES, full bodied coffees, specialty cookies, teas, candles, bath gels and body sprays, lovely collectibles. Linen and Lace are a must! Sheet sprays, soaps and violets! Cover her with sensuality- you won't go wrong with any of these.

Also think of your teenager- Stuffed animals are always a must! Teen girls love, fun jewelry making items, shimmering lotions and sparkly lip and nails, crafts, stationary and fun funky pens, rubber stamps, picture frames, and according to "Gift Basket Review" magazine, young girls are loving anything made with BUBBLE GUM!

Happy Gift Giving!
